We enjoyed embracing community in our sweet town of Julian to celebrate Earth month. We had a festive afternoon and were excited to gather and celebrate. Living in the backcountry it's important to honor the beauty, community & stability that surrounds us. This event was free and open to all.
Our day began at 2pm with Tribal Elders from the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel,
Chairman Kevin Osuna from the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel & Santa Ysabel Bird Singers.
Next was singer Liz Myers to help us embrace our connection to Mother Earth with a sweet melody.
Lots of family friendly fun throughout the day including a Hoe Down with Jesse from Fort Cross, Line Dancing with Kristin & Chris Olaf, Educational demonstrations from local organizations, Art projects and messages of hope with Kids For Peace, clothing & book swaps, a raffle featuring local businesses & live music from Janice Bina Smith & Rootful.
We also created a Tree of Intention by writing intentions on rice paper & tying them on Manzanita branches and displayed it at Julian Library the week after the event for the community to enjoy.
